As I walked down the path towards the beach for Meredith and Campbell’s beautiful family session in Denmark, the soft early morning light hit my face, and I felt instantly energised – there is something incredibly special about this place.
The beautiful bay was a breathtaking backdrop and absolute perfection for this family photo session. Meredith, Campbell, and their two young boys brought the most amazing energy to their session with me, and we had such a relaxed and fun time together.
When we initially spoke about doing their session, I ran through my approach as I always do, and the way I try to explain it goes a little something like this:
“As strange as it sounds, try not to think of it too much as a family photoshoot. My goal is for you to all feel relaxed and comfortable to be yourselves, and I’m there as a friend with a camera, and I’ll gently guide you as we go along.
With young kids in particular, there are nearly always moments of chaos. Something goes ‘wrong’, accidents happen, clothes get dirty, and someone (or everyone!) ends up in the water. The key is to lean into it and roll with whatever comes. A bit like how we get through parenting every day really!
Those key thing to know is that the moments in between getting what most people think are the perfect shots are actually some of the most beautiful, raw moments, that feel like you, so instead, let’s think of it as a beautiful family morning at the beach, captured.”
What came from this morning, was better than any of us could have imagined. There was a magic in the air, and the stunning natural beauty of this location gave endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. The boys, full of energy and curiosity, were eager to explore their surroundings and without even knowing it, they helped create unforgettable memories with their parents.
As the family began to play and explore, their joy and happiness was amazing to experience and capture. The boys ran along the shore, chasing the waves and laughing in delight as they played near the water and ran circles around their parents and played games. Meredith and Campbell looked on with so much love, soaking up their sons’ boundless energy and joy, and even sneaking a couple of beautiful moments in between just for themselves.
It’s times like these, that I am particularly grateful to have this amazing gift, and the passion I have for capturing natural and authentic moments, allowed me to genuinely document this gorgeous family adventure, while making it seem simple. With each click of my camera, these beautiful moments have been captured and can now be treasured for years to come.
As the sun began to climb higher in the sky, causing the most gorgeous, shimmering twinkle on the water, Meredith and Campbell held their boys a little tighter while the small waves crashed, seeming to soak up their time in this precious space.
It was such a dreamy morning that I didn’t want to end! Thank you a million for choosing to work with me Meredith & Campbell, you’re amazing!
