The first time I met Stephen + Lorraine I just knew their day was going to be incredible and I was thrilled that they chose me as their wedding photographer.
And their day was even better than I’d imagined.
I can’t begin to explain how much of an impact their laid back attitude contributed to creating a fun, memorable day that I definitely won’t forget. Their connection is something really special to witness.
Their ceremony at one of my favourite locations, Stingray Point in Mandurah, was beautifully prepared and delivered by their Celebrant, Gemma Dingle.
The flower arrangements were exquisite, amazing work by Everlasting by Natalie Jane!
Rain was forecast and we were all watching the skies to see how it was going to play out. I’d asked Lorraine during the week what the plan was, and she said “we’ll wing it, I’m sure it will be fine” and I couldn’t have been more impressed.
With the ceremony seemingly timed to perfection, rain fell momentarily after this beautiful couple’s kiss and we all made a run for cover under the iconic Moreton Bay Fig tree on the point. It only lasted a few minutes and held off after that, amazing!!
After some family photos and candids during a champagne toast on the point, I had a blast capturing some beautiful portraits with this couple! We kept things super simple, staying on the Mandurah foreshore between their ceremony location and wandering around to where their reception was being held. We took some relaxed photos on the way and incorporated lots of water which Lorraine was hoping for, and of course I was thrilled to create!
I love this approach and it meant they were off to enjoy time celebrating with their loved ones, which really, is what it’s all about!
I left them after capturing a few photos at the start of their casual reception at Brewvino and had an idea that I thought would be something really special for their family. As they have young kids (who where gorgeously included throughout the celebrations of the day) I thought it could be great to show them all the locations of their wedding day in one photo. As I was driving home, I stopped over the bridge in Halls Head and took the final photo in the gallery here, a 5 photo panoramic image stitched together which shows where they got ready and stayed for the weekend, the big fig tree on the point where they had their ceremony, and the bar where they had the reception. And did I mention there was a rainbow? Magic!!
